Tasting notes

16 - 18ºC.

Description

Summa Varietalis 2021 is one of the most distinctive wines from Dominio de Valdepusa, the estate founded by Carlos Falcó, Marqués de Griñón, in Malpica de Tajo (Toledo), which has held its own Denominación de Origen de Pago since 2002—the first in Spain—thereby recognizing the exceptional quality of its terroir and wines.

Made from a modern, international blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, three varieties expertly cultivated in the estate’s granite-limestone soils at an altitude of 600 metres, under an extreme continental climate that promotes slow ripening and concentration. The vineyards, with vines aged more than 25 years, are cultivated with very low yields and advanced viticultural techniques, including precision drip irrigation, a pioneering system in Spain.

After hand-harvesting and controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged for 12 months in new, first-fill French oak barrels, which impart structure, complexity, and the spicy, toasted nuances that characterise the style of Dominio de Valdepusa.
